Ironman Barcelona 2016

I took part in ironman Barcelona on 2/10/2016 to raise money for Alzheimer’s support.

GSD® CEO Graham Shapiro took part in ironman Barcelona on 2/10/2016 to raise money for Alzheimer’s support.

An Ironman race is the world’s toughest one day triathlon event.

Graham commented, “I decided to raise money this year for The Monthly Alzheimer’s Support Evenings (MASE). An amazing charity offering help to carers and their loved ones who are on the journey of dementia.

Unfortunately over the last 10 years my very close family has been heavily effected by dementia. It really can happen to any of us!

For what I had to endure for 14 hours of hard work and pain (2.4 mile sea swim, 112mile bike ride and a marathon 26.2 mile within 16 hours) is nothing compared to what sufferers, carers and their loved ones have to go through every single day.

I thank you massively for your contributions. To have raised £4,600 is mind blowing! Every penny we raised will make a huge difference to providing better times for these sufferers.

Thanks also to my wonderful family, friends, team GSD®, my ironman coach Steve Cartlidge, my training partner James Holloway, my nutritionist Mhari Keil, my physio Ruddy Farquharson and my osteopath Ian Whyte. Without these people I would never of achieved full Ironman status.”
